Plaid + Pearls

My family is more of the jeans and sweater type and I am more of the girlier and the dressier the better. So when it came time to pick out an outfit for Christmas Eve with my family I decided to just go with what I wanted. I took a cue from Atlantic-Pacific and went with plaid, pearls and tulle! To my surprise my little cousin like my skirt so much she wants one of her own.

This picture is a product of my mother's brainy idea to stand in the window seal. Getting down from this window would have been hysterical was I not afraid I was going to fall and break a leg.

Top: Old Navy | Skirt: DIY | Shoes: Guess, similar | Belt: Target |
Necklace: Amazon | Earrings: Kate Spade | Rings: Gifts | Bracelet: JCrew

I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas and wonderful with loved ones. Have a safe and Happy New Year's Eve!

Sparkle Sparkle Little Star

Who doesn't love a little or a lot of sparkle in their life. I am a big fan of all things sparkly! When I saw these shorts and for half off I knew it was meant to be. This is one outfit I wore while home for the holidays and I am considering wearing for NYE.

Top: JCPenney | Shorts: ASOS | Tights: Merona| Booties: Vince Camuto |
Necklace: Jewelmint | Bracelets: Jewelmint, JCrew | Watch: Michael Kors | Rings: Gifts

This cup is to die for. It sold out online and I was heart-broken...little did I know my boss found it in stores and gifted it to me for Christmas.

Photos: Philip Sampson (Thanks Dad)

So my NYE plans involve a stay in party and some really good friends! I am excited to skip the bar scene this year (does this make me old?) and hang out with good company and a less crowded/crazy atmosphere. Also I can skip on the over priced alcohol and food!
What are your plans this year? Wearing sequins to the event?

Birthday BFFEL

What in the world is a BFFEL? Well that would be my lovely friend Kimmy. It came about sometime in college and it has just stuck around!

We became good friends in high school, 9th grade Algebra class to be exact. She helped me with cheerleading tryouts and the rest has pretty much been history. We have had our ups and downs (what friendship hasn't) but I have no doubt in twenty years we will still be BFFELs. :)

She married her high school sweetheart this past May. They have been together for 9 years tomorrow. They are the couple other people hope to be one day....or at least I do. They love each other more now than they did a year ago and they trust each other so much. I am so happy they finally became husband and wife this year.

These were the high school days.....I am hoping some of those pictures never get resurfaced.....I wonder what we thought sometimes back then! :)

What can I say, we are two peas in a pod. She has always supported me, laughed with me, cried with me and been a shoulder to lean on when I needed one. I am not quite sure what I would do without her, but I am pretty sure I won't ever have to find out. Our friendship has survived high school drama, boys, college and now living in separate cities. We make sure to talk at least once or twice and week and we always know the other is there if there was ever a need.

Thank you for being my best friend and a constant in my life. Wishing you the best birthday yet and many many more to come! I look forward to all this life has yet to show us and all the fun, exciting and random memories we have left to make.

Welcome the Weekend

This weekend will be a crazy one for me, but fun none the less. Babysitting this evening and a friend coming into to town tonight. We are hitting up flywheel early (too early I'm currently thinking) tomorrow morning for a good sweat sesh! Then home to make my Baked French Toast and get ready for brunch and White Elephant. Afterwards we head to Santa Con (pictures should be good) and after that I think Sunday I shall rest!
Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Weekly Obsession

This week my obsession is with tulle skirts and the many different ways you can style them. I have my very own "tutu" if you will (thanks Me-Maw) and I absolutely LOVE it. So in the spirit of the upcoming holidays and my love for tulle skirts here are some ideas for how I may be styling my skirt.

There is something to be said about plaid, pearls and tulle! I think this might be the winning combo for me this year but a few more outfit inspirations incase I change my mind.

So I must say I love the plaid option and a cozy sweater with a serious sparkled out necklace option the most. Which is your favorite? any other holiday outfit ideas involving a tulle skirt?

Father + Daughter Love

Today is a very important day for the world! Don't worry you didn't forget a holiday, it is my dad's birthday! So in honor of him and all he does here are some photos of the main man in my life and some words of love for a guy who has done more than I will ever be able to repay him for.

I don't think I can describe in words how thankful I am for my dad. We have our differences and are too much alike sometimes, but without him I wouldn't be half the person I am today. He is always there for me, can me laugh at the drop of a hat and gives me the support and confidence I need when making big decisions. This guy right here is an incredible dad.

This picture is perfect, mainly because it depicts exactly what he looks like most of the time. The man loves to takes pictures and even started a photography business. Thanks to him I have embarrassing childhood/adulthood moments captured forever.

My years in college had ups and downs and a few not so proud moments but through it all this guy supported and encouraged me. There were a few times I had ZERO desire to finish but he told me it would all be worth it and it was!

This is my dad and Teresa. They were in London for a layover to South Africa on a mission trip. See not only he is an awesome dad and husband but a big fan of the man upstairs. He has a heart far bigger than many people know! He came back a better person after that trip and I think (if possible) his heart grew even bigger.

For anyone who doesn't know the man also loves to ride his Harley. It is his baby, sometimes I think he loves it more than me...not really! I do love that he has a love for traveling (thanks for passing that on) and has a desire to see the world still. I know I definitely got my love for the world and crazy ideas that I can see it all from him.

There are so many things I love and adore about this guy. He allows me to be me completely, even if that irritates his sometimes. He supports my crazy, sometimes impulsive decisions and never lets his feelings get in the way of telling me to go for whatever dream I want. He tells me to move if I want to move (even though I know he would miss me a lot) and that I must always follow my heart. He embraces my open-mindedness and my opinions even if they aren't my own.

I am proud to be his daughter and I realize more and more how lucky I am to have him!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD!!!

Friendsgiving

I am all for the holidays. Once Thanksgiving gets close I am full blown holiday crazed. I decided a few weeks ago I wanted to have a Thanksgiving dinner with my group of friends. So with a ton of emails and some planning later we ended up having a fantastic "Friendsgiving" this past Sunday.

On Saturday Thomas and I went shopping for decorations, more so I shopped for decorations and he shopped for cooking supplies. We got supplies for our dishes the following day and made a plan to decorate on Sunday.

We decided to use my boss's hurricanes for the centerpieces and I got moss, cranberries and candles to put in the middle.

As a side note, cranberries taste awful. I don't know this from personal experience but from the faces Jeff and Thomas made I can gather they weren't delicious.

Thomas made turkey cake pops to go on the table and wrapped the napkins in leaves.

My lovely friend Jen.

And this is my friend Thomas in all his Turkey Leg glory!

Mid Twenties

If you would have told my 16 year old self that I would look forward to turning another year older....I would have laughed in your face. Now-a-days I look forward to growing older, which is all subject to change at 30, get back to me then. Seriously, I am looking forward to this next year of my life. I have some really good feelings about this 26th year of life.

Now on to the celebrations! I rather enjoy LOVE my birthday! I start a countdown a month before the big day. My original plans were to go to Banner Elk, NC, sip wine, enjoy the cold weather and hang out with three awesome ladies. Well those plans came to a halt so instead two of my favorites came up from Athens, Kimmy and Anna, to spend the weekend and celebrate my happy day.

Friday was low-key with dinner and drinks. Saturday we went shopping and I picked up two goodies from J.Crew with my gift card from Anna.

After shopping we grabbed a late lunch and then went back to my apt to get ready. We had dinner at Basil (YUM) and went to Connollys for a few drinks afterwards. I had an absolute blast and so thankful for all my friends who came and celebrated my birthday with me. It was an amazing evening!

My grandmother made my tulle skirt for me and I could not love it more! The clutch was my birthday present from Kimmy.

Ladies meet my friend Jeff, he is single!

After we finished our night in Uptown, we headed back to my apartment to enjoy a piece of the cake Thomas made for my birthday! Please note not only was everything on this cake handmade but it was DELICIOUS.

Inside is a layer of chocolate and a layer of strawberry cake, buttercream frosting and chocolate covered strawberries on top.

Seriously, could not have asked for a better way to spend my birthday. To each and everyone that came, THANK YOU! You each made my day extra special and I so happy I have the best group of friends.
