Kentucky Derby, Charlotte Style

 
Let's talk about the Kentucky Derby. The hats, dresses, shoes and the status. It all seems like so much fun. So let's take a look at what the Kentucky Derby fashion scene is all about

Personally my favorite is Krysten Ritter's floral and lace trimmed dress. Her hat is just big enough and nice compliment to the dress itself and the darker navy shoes.

So after looking at all these beautiful hats and dresses, I need help deciding what to wear to Queens Cup her in Charlotte. Our lovely version of the Kentucky Derby. My work purchased a tent, will provide food and beverages and of course always a good time. So since I already have a tulle skirt and try to wear it every chance I get here a few options I was thinking about for Queens Cup.

I am fan of blushes and neutrals, especially for the Spring so that top just speaks to me. Those earrings are a bit out of my normal routine. I am a studs kind of girl but LOVE a good statement necklace. However with the floral going on I know it best to avoid a necklace with this ensemble. The next look is quite similar, let's be honest almost identical. What can I say? I know what I like.

So what are your thoughts? Probably that I am ridiculous and basically just need to pick a shirt and get over myself? Well I might, but I like opinions too.

Friday Fancies

It is officially Friday and I more than overjoyed at the fact that I have the rainy weekend to look forward to. Why might you ask, well because I have to pack up my life seeing as how I am moving in two weeks. I, of course, planned a trip next weekend that takes that out of the packing plan so I will enjoy the need to be inside and pack myself into an organized stupor.

Anyways this week's internet search has landed me some awesome finds and I hope you enjoy them as much as I did.

I don't know about you, but this little girl's willingness to help others gives me such faith in the next generation.
 
Although this video makes me worry the next generation is never going to have the right idea about what natural beauty is. I was even in shock at what Photoshop could do.
 
I am a firm believe rin kisses. I think there is something so intimate and special about them and while I never imagined strangers kissing would be beautiful and heart warming I learned differently after this perfect story.
 
This weekend might call for a yummy new recipe and I think I found just the one to whip up.
 
I have every desire in the world to add a pink moto jacket to my wardrobe thinks to the ever stylish Blair.
 
With Spring around the corner, I am gearing up for a new palette of colors and this gorgeous mani is top on my list to try.

Also can we talk about how SJP is on top of her shoe game, but I never doubted she wouldn't be. I have plans a little farther into the future to add one pair to my ever growing shoe collection.

My gorgeous and sweet friend Sarah, FINALLY opened up an Etsy shop and she is selling her art. Trust me you want a piece of her work hanging in your house/studio/office, whatever. Anyways check her site out and watch her collection grow.

Last but certainly not least, is this awesome adventure, I am going on in April with work. A coworker of mine was kind of enough to invite along on our work's mission trip to Dominican Republic. I am excited to go and already prepared to never want to leave.

Weekend In Review

This weekend my parents were in town for a visit. When they come in, the weekend usually involves food, shopping, movies and laughs. This visit was no different.
 
They arrived Friday evening and after getting settled we set out for dinner. I have a new obsession with this place called Bad Daddy's. They have this burger it's called The Frenchie. It is a turkey burger, with brie cheese, applewood smoked bacon, sliced apples and garlic mayo. I get it without the mayo but oh my it is super delicious. After dinner we came back to my apartment, chatted for a bit and then went to bed.
 
Saturday was just an easy day. We slept in, I made French toast for everyone and then we got ready for the day. We went shopping, where I helped my dad pick out new tennis shoes and Teresa a new pair of skinny jeans. Then I took them to World Market, basically the best place ever. Have you ever been? If not, please promise you will go, it has so many unique and fun things. Teresa and I picked up a few things.
 

 
This tray and those trinkets together are going to help build my new bedroom. I have wanted to redesign my bedroom for awhile and I have this issue where when I want something done I want it then and there not in a few months or a year, but RIGHT THEN. I realize that isn't going to happen so instead I am embracing the piece by piece method. I am going to start collecting new items for my room and switching them out until I have a completed oasis.
 
After shopping we watched Crazy, Stupid, Love (who doesn't want to see Ryan Gosling shirtless) and then headed to dinner at Luisa's Brickoven Pizza. It was super delicious and I literally cleaned my plate. We went back home, watch some of the Olympics and then went to bed.
 
Sunday was quick, up and ready and off to brunch at 5Church. They seriously have the best omelets. After brunch we headed back and they left on their four hour trip home. I spent my afternoon with Thomas and Katy playing disc golf, where I accidentally got hit in the face and after a few tears I laughed it off. My weekend was a good mixture of food, fun and laughter. So lucky to have such awesome friends and family.

Who Wears Short Shorts?


 

I admit that my love for cold weather is not the normal. I am always the first to celebrate the first frost of the fall/winter season, squeal with excitement when layers are no longer a want to wear but a need to wear and snow is actually in the forecast, BUT I do love a good spring time forecast of shorts and sweaters. I don't know why but this might be my favorite outfit of choice, well, behind leggings and oversized sweaters of course.
 
So in honor of the impending warmer weather and the brief stint I will get of shorts and sweaters, here is a few of my favorite looks.

So with Spring time just around the corner, it looks like I may need to update my wardrobe with some fun and light weight sweaters along with fun prints and solid colored shorts. What is your favorite season? Outfit pairing?

Snow Day


After watching everyone I know get showered with snow a few weeks ago, I finally got my fill of the white, fluffy, gorgeous stuff. Wednesday morning it started really coming down and by 11am my office let us go to get home safely. Once home I decided my lunch hour would be spent walking around and taking pictures of the quiet streets of SouthEnd. 


That is a road there....usually chock full of people from morning to night, but the weather made the streets eerily quiet and deserted, a rare sight for SouthEnd Charlotte. 




This was Wednesday's snowfall only an hour or two in. At the end are pictures from today's snowfall that left us around eight or nine inches...more than I imagined but thoroughly happily about it.

I may or may not have made my way to CVS to grab a few necessities. This bottle of wine being one of them. A girl has priorities and this just happens to be one of mine.

Today's final snowfall. It was picturesque and amazing. More snow than I could have asked for and so happily to finally have a snow day or two.
